September 2026 — Prayer, practical service, and Bible training

Prayer and missionary support

Beatrice continues joining the Intercesoras prayer group on Wednesdays. On Mondays, she meets with the ITM team to pray for one another and for the students and families served through the ministry.

Together, we meet with missionaries in the field, listen to their needs, and help wherever we can so they can continue serving the communities where they live.

Serving in Oromomo

Jorge spent ten days in Oromomo continuing improvements to the missionary house, helping make it better suited to daily life in the jungle.

Celebrations and community life

The city celebrated its anniversary with a week of parades and music. We also joined the Bible Society for its anniversary celebration. These occasions reminded us of the Lord’s work in the city over many years, while many indigenous communities still need to hear the gospel and know Jesus as Lord and Savior.

We enjoyed another Día del Peatón, when vehicle traffic pauses and the streets fill with people walking, cycling, and spending time outdoors with friends and family.

Seminary retreat

We attended a retreat with the Baptist Seminary, where we enjoyed getting to know fellow students and encouraging them as they prepare for ministry. Our time together reminded us of the need for pastors to serve local churches and teachers to faithfully teach God’s Word to the many children attending Sunday school.

Quechua Bible training

During the last week of September, we continued helping the Quechua class as students completed their final module. Once they pass their exam, they will be able to help fill pulpits by teaching the Bible chronologically in Quechua.

Please pray with us

1. For our American missionaries returning to their supporting churches to share ministry updates—for safe travels and encouraging visits.
2. For missionaries in the field to be strengthened and encouraged as they serve.
3. For the Lord to provide a new aircraft engine so the plane can return to service.
4. For a reliable Ranger vehicle to travel into the mountains and encourage communities without church leadership.
5. For the Lord to send more workers into the mission field, especially pilots.

With gratitude in Christ,

Jorge y Beatrice Rivas
